Salary: £28,605 - £34,359 per annum (pro rata for part-time, pay award pending)

About the Role

As a Community Support Worker, you will meet with individuals, families and carers to connect and listen and where necessary undertake an assessment under the Care Act 2014. Where there is an eligible need, you will devise a plan for how the person can access the support they require – this may be connecting with their local community, referral to other agencies or providing service to support their unmet needs.

Where necessary, you will identify and report potential safeguarding, consider mental capacity, and other high-risk situations where a person’s safety or liberty may be  will undertake visits to people in their own homes, in a hospital setting or wherever the person feels most comfortable to meet you.

We have vacancies in the following teams:

  • Accommodation Review (X2 permanent, 37 hours per week) - Glenfield, Leicestershire
  • Accommodation Review (X1 Fixed Term, 37 hours per week) - Glenfield, Leicestershire
Our Team

The Accommodation Review team completes annual reviews for people living in residential care, supported living and shared lives services. They complete Care Act assessments, Mental Capacity assessments and assess eligibility as well as working closely with our fee review team to complete care cubed assessments and annual care uplifts.

Responsibilities
  • Identify and report safeguarding concerns; assess mental capacity where appropriate; respond to high‑risk situations that may impact a person’s safety or liberty.
  • Carry out visits in people’s homes or other locations as agreed with the individual.
  • Work proactively with carers to ensure their needs and any impacts are recognised and addressed during the review process.
  • Travel county‑wide, including out‑of‑county funded placements.
Career Progression

Grade 8 (Trainee CSW) – First role; develop experience and skills, complete the learning and induction programme, and work under supervision.

Grade 9 (CSW) – Expected to manage workload under supervision, deliver high‑quality, person‑centred, statutory social care, and demonstrate competency in conducting Care and Support Assessments, Mental Capacity Assessments and making Best Interest decisions.

About You

Qualifications and experience

  • Hold a Level 2 in Maths and English.
  • Have relevant experience of working with adults in a social care setting and of working with other agencies within a fieldwork environment.
  • Understand the need to undertake need and risk assessments and the issues/needs that adults and their families/carers may have.
  • Have a good understanding of social care organisations and their roles and responsibilities as part of the wider community and voluntary sector.
  • Be a confident communicator skilled in negotiation, persuasion, assertiveness and conflict management, and able to build effective working relationships.
  • Recognise the limits of own accountability and responsibility, and seek appropriate support and advice when required.
  • Be able to manage a caseload and work towards clear objectives.
