Express Recruitment is representing a rapidly growing automation and controls specialist in the ‘industry 4.0’ sector across the UK, looking to hire a Software Engineer with proven Python Django experience on a full‑time, permanent basis.

The successful candidate will join a highly skilled team of Software Engineers and play a pivotal role in the technical design and delivery of high‑quality software solutions for blue‑chip firms in the UK.

Occasional on‑site software integrations and automation system commissioning tasks will require a full clean UK driving licence. The role also includes supporting customers with system issues outside of office hours on a rotating rota basis (additional pay applies).

Salary: £35,000 to £55,000 per annum, depending on experience.

Key Responsibilities and Qualifications
  • Design, develop and test API interfaces.
  • Work with PostgreSQL databases, including integration and deployment.
  • Hands‑on experience with Python (Django).
  • Experience with .NET/C# for backend services and system integrations.
  • Build interactive front‑end applications using Blazor (Server) within the .NET ecosystem.
  • Containerise applications with Docker, handling deployment and management.
  • Knowledge of RabbitMQ, including queues, exchanges, bindings, and message routing.
  • Effectively communicate technical work to senior management and customers.
  • Plan and prioritise workloads, ensuring project deadlines are met.
  • Experience with AI tools such as Copilot and Claude.
  • Background in intralogistics, automation, or material handling sectors is highly desirable.
  • Full clean UK driving licence.
  • Assist in developing an automated warehouse application and related features.
  • Contribute to innovation in the automated warehouse software department, including research, development and new product features.
  • Prepare technical documents aligned with client requirements and industry standards.
  • Adopt and standardise AI development tools across the team.
  • Participate in code reviews with Lead Developers to meet quality and specification standards.
  • Diagnose software issues using debugging tools, log analysis, breakpoints, stack traces, and systematic root cause analysis.
  • Accompany Senior Developers on customer sites to support end‑to‑end commissioning and software integration work.
