This position is listed on behalf of a partner company, who manages all applications and next steps. Our partner is looking for a CTO (Cupid Media) based in United Kingdom.

This is a high-impact technology leadership opportunity for an experienced CTO who thrives on building scalable engineering organizations and improving product delivery. You will act as the key technical partner to product leadership, ensuring engineering efforts are aligned with business objectives and customer value. The role focuses on accelerating delivery, optimizing development frameworks, and creating predictable execution across complex digital products.

You will lead cross-functional collaboration between engineering, product, and design teams while driving technical excellence. This position is ideal for a strategic technology leader with strong delivery expertise, business understanding, and hands‑on experience with modern software architectures.

Accountabilities

As CTO, you will own the technical execution strategy and lead the engineering organization toward faster, more reliable, and business‑focused product delivery. You will establish scalable processes, improve development efficiency, and ensure technology decisions support long‑term product success.

  • Audit and optimize the software development lifecycle (SDLC) to identify bottlenecks and improve delivery speed.
  • Design and implement engineering frameworks that enable predictable, transparent, and high‑quality feature releases.
  • Partner closely with product leadership, designers, and business stakeholders to translate product goals into effective technical execution plans.
  • Take ownership of the technical perspective of the business backlog, ensuring prioritization aligns with company objectives.
  • Establish and scale Agile, Scrum, Kanban, and other project management practices tailored to business needs.
  • Create clear visibility into delivery progress, risks, dependencies, and timelines through structured execution systems.
  • Lead collaboration between engineering, product, and design teams to remove blockers and improve operational efficiency.
  • Evaluate product requirements against technical feasibility and provide data‑driven recommendations and constructive challenges.
  • Communicate technical strategies, architecture decisions, delivery updates, and risks effectively to executive stakeholders.
  • Drive continuous improvement across engineering practices, development processes, and technology operations.
Requirements

The ideal candidate is a technology leader with a strong background in software development, engineering management, and product delivery. You should combine technical depth with business awareness and have experience building efficient engineering systems within high‑scale digital environments.

  • Extensive experience leading technology teams as a CTO, VP Engineering, Engineering Director, or similar senior technology leadership role.
  • Deep expertise in software development lifecycle optimization, delivery management, and engineering operations.
  • Strong understanding of Agile methodologies, Scrum, Kanban, and modern project management frameworks.
  • Proven ability to improve time‑to‑market metrics and establish predictable delivery processes.
  • Strong understanding of product development life cycles and the ability to align engineering decisions with business priorities.
  • Experience managing and prioritizing technical backlogs while balancing product goals and engineering constraints.
  • Strong architectural knowledge with the ability to evaluate complex technical requirements and define scalable solutions.
  • Proven experience with modern technology stacks, including distributed architectures, microservices, event‑driven systems, synchronous/asynchronous communication patterns, Kubernetes, and CI/CD pipelines.
  • Solid software development background with the ability to engage deeply with engineering teams.
  • Strong analytical skills and experience using product and engineering data to guide decisions.
