Job Description & How to Apply Below

We are currently supporting a product-focused organisation that is investing heavily in modern software engineering practices, including AI-assisted development and spec-driven engineering.

They're looking for a Full Stack Software Engineer to join a highly collaborative team where engineers are encouraged to influence technical decisions, contribute to architecture discussions, and help shape how software is built. This is an environment where engineering judgement is valued, ownership is encouraged, and teams are focused on delivering meaningful outcomes rather than simply completing tasks.

This role would suit an engineer who enjoys working across the full software development lifecycle, with a particular focus on backend engineering while contributing across the wider technology stack.

What we're looking for
  • Strong Java development experience, with a proven track record of building backend services and APIs
  • Experience delivering solutions across both backend and frontend technologies, with an understanding of how systems fit together end-to-end
  • A quality-first approach to software engineering, including automated testing, code reviews and maintainable design principles
  • Strong communication and collaboration skills, with the ability to work effectively across engineering, product and delivery teams
  • Experience influencing technical decisions and contributing to engineering best practice
  • Exposure to modern frontend technologies such as React, Angular or Vue
  • Experience working with cloud platforms, CI/CD pipelines and modern software delivery practices
  • Exposure to distributed systems, microservices or event-driven architectures
  • Experience mentoring, coaching or supporting the development of other engineers
  • Practical experience with AI-assisted development tools such as Git Hub Copilot, Cursor or similar technologies.
What you'll be doing
  • Designing, building, testing and delivering software solutions from concept through to production
  • Developing backend services and APIs with a strong focus on quality and maintainability
  • Contributing to architectural discussions and technical decision-making
  • Working closely with Product, QA and Design teams to solve real customer problems
  • Using AI-assisted development tools such as Git Hub Copilot alongside modern engineering practices to support the delivery of high-quality software
  • Driving engineering excellence through testing, code reviews and continuous improvement
  • Supporting and mentoring other engineers through collaboration and knowledge sharing
Additional Information
  • Immediate availability or up to 2 weeks' notice preferred
  • Hybrid working model (Leeds office every Tuesday and Thursday)
  • Initial contract running until December 2026 with potential for extension
  • Two-stage interview process
