The role of the Strength & Conditioning Coach is to plan, deliver and monitor an elite, evidence‑based strength and conditioning programme for the Women’s First Team, ensuring players are physically prepared to compete at Women’s Super League level, while supporting player availability, performance and long‑term athlete development.

The role will also include supporting the Club’s objective of maintaining its position as one of the leading teams in the Women’s Super League.

Contract:

Part Time. Days:
Tuesday (evenings), Thursday (evenings), Saturday (morning), all matches.

Hours:

12 hours per week.

Key Responsibilities & Duties
  • Design, deliver and review a periodised strength and conditioning programme aligned to the team’s training and competition schedule.
  • Lead all gym‑based and field‑based physical preparation sessions for the Women’s First Team.
  • Monitor player physical load, wellness and readiness to train and compete.
  • Work closely with the Head Coach, medical staff and performance team to manage injury risk and return‑to‑play process.
  • Deliver individual programmes to meet positional and player‑specific needs.
  • Maintain accurate records of player testing, gym attendance and performance metrics.
  • Support the integration of new and developing players into the physical standards required for Women’s Super League rugby.
  • Provide education to players on recovery, nutrition, injury prevention and training habits.
  • Ensure that physical preparation supports the club’s high‑performance culture and standards.
  • Attend matches, training sessions and meetings as required.
Health & Safety
  • Fully endorse, demonstrate and carry out the company’s health and safety policy.
  • Comply with all company policies and statutory regulations relating to health and safety, safe working practices, hygiene, cleanliness, fire and COSHH. This will include your awareness of any specific hazards in your workplace, and assist if required with the amending of risk assessments periodically.
  • Have a full knowledge of procedures for evacuation with regard to fire.
  • Identify and report maintenance requirements or hazards within the workplace and encourage any workforce to do the same to avoid injury.
Safeguarding

Experience
  • Hold at least a BSc in Strength & Conditioning or Sport Science, or a related discipline.
  • Hold a current Basic First Aid for Sport Qualification (or equivalent/higher qualification).
  • Previous experience working within a professional sports environment.
  • UKSCA Accreditation or equivalent qualifications.
  • Masters in Strength & Conditioning, Sport Science or related qualification.
  • Experience working in a professional rugby league environment.
Knowledge, Skills & Qualities
  • Good understanding of long‑term athlete development.
  • Good communicator with an outgoing personality.
  • Excellent organisation skills and the ability to work as part of a multi‑disciplinary team.
  • Excellent IT and presentation skills.
  • Driving licence and own vehicle.
  • Flexibility to work unsociable hours including evening and weekends.
  • Knowledge of the physical demands of Women’s Super League.
  • Tailoring training that supports elite female athletes and their physiological needs.
  • Ability to use GPS, wellness, force plates or similar athlete monitoring systems.
