Job Purpose
To safely and efficiently carry out collections and deliveries on behalf of DPD, ensuring parcels are delivered and collected on time while maintaining excellent customer service. The role involves manual handling, vehicle safety checks, and the accurate use of handheld technology to update delivery information.
Key Responsibilities
Complete daily collections and deliveries in line with planned routes.
Load and unload parcels at the depot and customer premises.
Carry out manual handling duties safely and in accordance with company procedures.
Conduct daily vehicle checks and report any defects.
Operate handheld devices and company software to record deliveries, collections, and route updates.
Ensure all deliveries are completed accurately and on time.
Provide a professional and courteous service to customers.
Comply with all road traffic legislation, Driver Hours Regulations, and Working Time Directive requirements.
Maintain a clean and roadworthy vehicle.
Follow all company health and safety policies and procedures.
Essential Requirements
Valid UK Category C1 (7.5T) driving licence.
Valid Driver CPC qualification.
Valid Digital Tachograph Card.
Minimum of 12 months' experience driving a 7.5-tonne vehicle or similar.
Good understanding of driver hours and tachograph regulations.
Physically fit and capable of carrying out manual handling duties.
Good communication skills and a professional attitude.
Ability to work independently and manage time effectively.
Desirable Skills
Previous experience in parcel or multidrop delivery.
Experience using handheld delivery devices.
Strong customer service skills.
Good geographical knowledge of the local area.
Working Hours
Monday to Friday
09:00 start
Overtime available after 40 hoursPay
Standard Rate: £16.05 per hour (first 40 hours)
Overtime Rate: £23.43 per hour (after 40 hours)
Physical Requirements
Frequent lifting, carrying, loading, and unloading of parcels.
Regular climbing in and out of the vehicle.
Ability to work in a fast-paced environment while maintaining safe working practices
