Role Description
Arcadis is seeking an experienced Senior Civil Engineer to join our Design Engineering team. This is a hybrid flexible opportunity. The selected candidate may be based out of any Arcadis office in the East.
As a Senior Civil Engineer, you will support a growing base of complex site development, reclamation, and restoration projects throughout North America, mentoring junior staff. Engineering activities will include engagement at all levels of project delivery from conceptual planning through design and into construction. Work activities will include design, technical calculation preparation, report writing, and construction support. Projects typically include large-scale earth moving and regrading, engineered cap and cover designs, environmental reclamation, road and culvert design, land development, and stream and wetland restoration.
Role is primarily office based with opportunity for project-related travel (site visits, meetings).
Responsibilities
Work with project managers and team members to develop civil engineering designs. Analyze documentation including technical reports, maps, drawings, tests, and aerial photographs to understand geotechnical properties, terrain, hydrologic and hydraulic characteristics, and other data necessary to support civil design development. Review applicable regulations, permitting requirements, and standards. Based on interpretation of data and regulatory constraints, develop civil engineering designs of varying complexity.
Use 3D design software (e.g., Autodesk Civil 3D) to develop grading plans, perform drainage layouts, optimize earthwork designs, and perform quantity calculations. Oversee drawing production and provide construction support, including contractor assistance, technical submittal review, and real‑time design changes based on field conditions.
Additional responsibilities include:
- Hydrologic and hydraulic evaluations.
- Preparation of technical reports and specifications.
- Designing stormwater best management practices and erosion and sediment control plans.
- Mentoring and delegating tasks to junior team members.
Qualifications & Experience
- Bachelor of Science degree in Civil Engineering or related discipline.
- Minimum 6 years of experience.
- Engineer‑In‑Training (EIT) or Engineering Intern (EI) certification.
- Proficiency with 3D civil site design using computer‑based modeling applications (e.g., AutoCAD Civil 3D).
- Proficiency with hydrologic and hydraulic modeling software (e.g., Hydro
CAD, HEC‑HMS, SWMM).
Preferred Qualifications
- Professional Engineer (P.E.) License.
- Minimum of 8 years experience.
- Proficiency with hydraulic river modeling applications (e.g., HEC‑RAS).

The salary range for this position is $80,461 - $152,675. Actual salaries vary based on experience, education, budget, internal equity, project and location.
