Seeking a mechanical engineer with expertise in hydraulics and pneumatics. The role involves designing machines that are built in Novi, Michigan. The machines are intended for functional production testing of products, laboratory testing, and specialty lean product assembly cells. All of these machines use advanced technology. In this position, you will work alongside mechanical, electrical and controls engineers, machine builders and electricians.

Your work will involve engineering, design, and analysis, which will take place at your desk. Machine assembly and debugging will be carried out on our clean, state-of-the-art shop floor.

• Using AutoCAD;
  Design hydraulic circuits that clamp and actuate tooling and fixturing. Additionally design hydraulic systems provide fluid flow, pressure and pressure and volume measurement for product testing.
• Work closely with mechanical designers, electrical designers, controls engineers and software engineers to ensure the overall test machine functions safely, reliably and repeatably.
• Develop Bills of Material and work with purchasing to procure appropriate materials and equipment.
• Assist machines builders with assembly and startup of the machines.
• Communicate with Project Managers and the customer where necessary.
• Assist Service team in troubleshooting customer’s machines in the field.

A mechanical engineer with practical experience, who enjoys a hands-on approach and exhibits the following:

• Proficient in AutoCAD
• Using creativity and best practices in design philosophy
• Good debugging/troubleshooting and problem-solving skills
• Good Overall PC Computer/Microsoft Suite knowledge
• Excellent verbal, written and interpersonal communication.
• BSME or equivalent

• Minimum 3 years, prefer 5 to 15 years, designing/engineering hydraulic systems.
• AutoCAD.
• Experience with general mechanical design and PLC and PC controls will be valuable.
• Electrical design is a plus.
