Under the direction of the Senior Hydraulic Design Manager, you will work on exciting projects that challenge you and provide growth in your career. The role offers a flexible work environment, allowing you to collaborate with a team on local, national, and international projects from the office and/or home.
Role Accountabilities- Engineering design for roadway drainage and design‑build projects, including collector streets, urban arterials, rural and urban expressways, interstates, and bridge replacements across Michigan and Ohio.
- Assist in all aspects of roadway drainage design, including bridge hydraulic studies, culvert design, closed drainage system design, post‑construction water‑quality structure design, and erosion and sedimentation control.
- Prepare construction plans and project displays.
- Prepare cost estimates, reports, and technical memoranda.
- Utilize design software such as Micro Station, Open Roads, AutoCAD Civil 3D, Microsoft Excel, GIS, HEC‑RAS, HY8, Flow Master, ICPR, Storm
CAD, SMS, SRH2D, and HEC‑RAS 2D to support design and construction planning. - Coordinate with project managers, ecologists, and roadway engineers.
- Direct junior engineers’ design activities.
- 7 or more years of drainage design and project management experience.
- Bachelor’s degree in engineering.
- Professional Engineer license.
- Experience working on MDOT projects.
- Basic understanding of FEMA floodplain regulations.
- Knowledge of stormwater design, including open channel conveyance and closed drainage systems.
- Knowledge of stormwater treatment using appropriate BMPs suitable for transportation projects.
- Proficiency with software platforms such as Bentley’s Storm
CAD, Culvert Master, Flow Master, ICPR, HEC‑RAS, HEC‑HMS, HY8, ICPR, SWMM, SMS, SRH2D, and HEC‑RAS 2D. - Strong written and verbal communication, teamwork skills, and flexibility to complete a wide range of tasks including field work.
- Initiative and ability to tackle new projects and challenges regularly.
- NCEES record is a plus.

Salary Range$107,281 – $132,761 (actual salaries vary based on experience, education, budget, and location).
