Brief Description

The Resident Care Manager (RCM) is dedicated to improving the quality of residents’ lives by promoting health, safety and exemplary care. Through assessments, developing care plans, staff training, medication management and daily rounds, RCMs ensure residents are provided with compassionate care. RCMs oversee Wellness Nurses, Wellness Coordinators and Scheduler, supporting their professional growth and fostering a high‑performing team environment. RCMs are the leaders of the Resident Care team and report to the Executive Director.

Main Job Tasks and Responsibilities
  • Lead the Resident Care Department by setting a positive example, being visible, involved, accessible, and helping our staff with their professional growth.
  • Ensure quality assurance and applicable regulatory compliance by monitoring completion and quality of assessments, referrals, coordination of services, resident files, and care plans.
  • Provide wellness care for our residents, and follow up with resident concerns or health issues.
  • Participate in care conferences with resident families to communicate changes in health and behaviors of the residents.
  • Assess vitals of residents and report changes to the appropriate health care professional on file.
  • Coordinate move‑ins with Marketing team and Executive Director. Conduct resident assessments for prospective residents across the community to ensure proper fit within the community. Review pre‑resident paperwork and create care plans based on resident needs.
  • Administer and assist with medication management using eMAR to assure that all residents are receiving the correct medication at the proper time.
  • Ensure appropriate staffing levels of Resident Care Department through leadership of Wellness Coordinator and Scheduler. Assist with hiring of Caregivers and Med Techs.
  • Create an educational environment by training associates on various applicable topics.
  • Participate in the on‑call rotation within the department.
  • Assist with all other duties as assigned by the Executive Director.

Job Requirements
  • Registered Nurse License is required in NC and preferred in MI and VA.
  • Associates or Bachelor’s degree in related field is required.
  • CPR certification is required.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office and other computer applications is required.
  • 3-5 years of previous experience as a Nurse is required.
  • 3-5 years of previous experience working with seniors is preferred.
  • Previous experience working in an assisted living or memory care community is preferred.
  • Able to work weekends and holidays as needed, sharing the Manager on Duty responsibilities.
Physical Requirements
  • Constant use of manual dexterity, auditory and visual skills and gross motor skills with frequent use of bi‑manual dexterity and fine motor skills.
  • Ability to follow written and oral instructions and procedures.
  • Associates in this role are occasionally exposed to hot water, and cleaning chemicals.
  • Ability to reach, bend, twist, squat, kneel, push and pull.
  • Ability to lift/carry up to 50 pounds. 80 pounds of pressure may be placed on the associate through transfers using transfer belts or mechanical assists.
  • Ability to perform repetitive movements including simple grasping, pushing, pulling and fine manipulation.
  • Constant standing and walking.
