About Luminary Hospice

Our mission is to deliver personalized care that radiates compassion and preserves dignity. We focus on caring for the whole person with medical care, pain management, emotional and spiritual support, and resources for families and caregivers.

About The Role

The volunteer provides patient care and support services according to their experience and training, complying with organization policies.

Job Responsibilities

  • Serve as an integral member of the interdisciplinary team across various settings: home care, respite, inpatient, bereavement, and administrative duties.
  • Participate in general orientation.
  • Support patients and families under guidance from the Volunteer Coordinator and Case Manager.
  • Perform activities as trained, including homemaker chores, errands, and respite care.
  • Document activities maintaining confidentiality.
  • Meet health requirements set by Luminary Hospice.
  • Provide regular availability to meet patient and family needs.
  • Participate in volunteer support groups and educational in-services.
  • Maintain communication with the Volunteer Coordinator.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned.
  • Participate in quality improvement activities.
  • Attend interdisciplinary meetings as appropriate.
  • Job Qualifications

  • Supportive, mature individual comfortable with spirituality and serving others.
  • Family members must wait at least one year after the patient's death to participate in direct care or PR activities.
  • Complete hospice volunteer training and orientation.
  • Previous volunteer experience is helpful.
  • Ability to work within an interdisciplinary team.
  • If making home visits, must be a licensed driver with insured, well-maintained vehicle.
  • Physical Demands

    Frequent sitting or standing; occasional lifting up to 50 pounds. Accommodations available for disabilities.
