Welder​/Fitter

Welder/Fitter – Novi MI.

Contract through June 2026
Day Shift: 5:30 or 6 am start time

Works as part of a team under the supervision of the Weld Leader or Team Leader, carrying out several technical tasks related to the Business Unit where he/she is allocated.

• Able to read prints, layout and construct intricate fabrications.
• Perform welding, brazing, and burning operations.
• Determine assembly procedure from prints or verbal instructions.
• Work closely with welding leader to respect production timing.
• Produce parts with zero defects.
• Perform operations related to the welding processes.
• Report equipment and material faults.
• Report all non-conformities.
• Monitor production process and carry out basic testing and quality checks.
• Use proper tools required for any operation.
• Safely use lifting equipment when required.
• Clean and maintain work areas and machinery.
• Follow World Class Manufacturing (WCM) methodology during all operations [CP1].
• Use Welding Procedure Specifications (WPS).
• Maintain functional welding equipment.
• Fill out related paperwork.
• Follow weld inspector directives.
• Re-certify as directed.
• Dismantle components by means of cutting/grinding/torch/Plasma.

• Welding in multiple positions and orientations.
• Gas Metal Arc Welding (GMAW) or Metal Inert Gas (MIG).
• Gas Tungsten Arc Welding (GTAW) or Tungsten Inert Gas (TIG).
• Shielded Metal Arc Welding (SMAW).
• Good practical and mechanical skills.
• Ability to read drawings and blueprints.
• Ability to work quickly and methodically.
• Ability to concentrate during repetitive tasks.
• Ability to follow instructions.
• WCM basic knowledge.

• Education : Technical School Diploma or Certificate (Desired).
• May be required to pass employer performance tests or standard tests to meet certification standards of governmental agencies or professional and technical associations.
• Subject to background check with satisfactory results.
