Manual Bridgeport Knee-Mill Operator

Location: Novi, Michigan

Employment: Contract (through March 2026)

Shift: Day Shift

Pay: Up to $24.50 per hour

Summary: Sets up, adjusts, and operates manual vertical bridgeport knee mills to bore, drill holes, face mill, groove, recess, taper, drill and tap on a variety of standard and non‑standard work pieces while maintaining tolerances. Set‑ups involve blocking, aligning, and securing irregularly shaped work pieces.

• Load and unload parts manually or by rigging and using overhead lifting devices.
• Align and secure holding fixtures, cutting tools, attachments, accessories, and materials onto machines.
• Position and secure workpiece on table with bolts, jigs, clamps, shims, or other holding devices.
• Select appropriate tools for machining parts, drills, taps, end mills, boring cutters, etc.
• Perform manual machining operations, following standard operating procedures.
• Verify conformance of machined work to specifications using measuring instruments such as calipers, micrometers, and fixed and telescoping gauges.
• Perform CILR tasks to maintain the area.
• Report daily production achieved.
• Report non‑conformances.

• Ability to work independently with written and verbal direction.

• Proficient math skills.
• Blueprint reading skills using both imperial and metric systems.

• Adherence to EHS rules for factory floor work.
• Identification of unsafe act/unsafe condition.
• Proper PPE usage.

• Three years of manual bridgeport knee mill experience.
• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Vocational training preferred.
