Our client is seeking an experienced Business Development Manager to drive growth in embedded software solutions serving the automotive industry and other technology-focused markets. This position will develop relationships with OEM and Tier 1 customers, identify new business opportunities, and connect customer objectives with innovative software solutions.
The ideal candidate combines a strong understanding of automotive embedded software with proven business development and customer relationship skills. This is a highly visible role requiring the ability to communicate technical value to engineering teams as well as senior management.
Key Responsibilities Business Development & Strategy- Develop and execute strategic business development plans targeting automotive OEMs and Tier 1 suppliers.
- Identify new, expanded, and add-on business opportunities within existing and prospective customers.
- Develop relationships across customer organizations, from engineering and technical personnel through executive management.
- Build and maintain a strong pipeline of qualified business opportunities.
- Drive opportunities from initial identification through proposal, negotiation, and closing.
- Serve as a primary business contact for assigned customers and strategic accounts.
- Develop trusted-advisor relationships by understanding customer business and technical objectives.
- Align embedded software solutions with customer strategies and development requirements.
- Lead customer business reviews and executive-level discussions.
- Help resolve customer issues while identifying opportunities for additional business.
- Understand customer requirements, technical challenges, and software development processes.
- Identify and propose embedded software solutions that address customer needs.
- Evaluate customer ECU development and testing processes and recommend appropriate solutions.
- Translate complex technical capabilities into clear business value for customer decision-makers.
- Work with engineering and product teams to develop customized solutions and presentations.
- Partner with product management, engineering, sales, and other internal teams to develop customer-focused solutions.
- Support successful product implementation and delivery.
- Communicate customer feedback and market intelligence to influence future product development and roadmaps.
- Maintain a strong focus on customer satisfaction and long‑term account growth.
- Monitor automotive technology trends, competitive offerings, customer strategies, and market developments.
- Develop industry intelligence to identify emerging business opportunities.
- Represent the organization at automotive industry conferences, trade shows, and customer events.
- Deliver technical and business presentations to customers and industry audiences.
- Proven track record of developing and closing business opportunities.
- Experience identifying, developing, and proposing embedded software solutions to automotive customers.
- Strong understanding of automotive OEM and Tier 1 ECU development and testing processes.
- Experience with automotive networking technologies and standards such as AUTOSAR, CAN, LIN, and Ethernet.
- Minimum 3 years of experience with the embedded software development lifecycle.
- Strong understanding of embedded software build and development processes.
- Ability to understand customer and market requirements and translate them into business opportunities.
- Demonstrated ability to communicate technical value in terms of business value, particularly with management‑level customers.
- Excellent communication and presentation skills with the ability to work effectively with technical and executive audiences.
- Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Software Engineering, Computer Engineering, Computer Science, or a related field, or equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Willingness to travel to customer locations as needed, typically approximately 30%.
