The Field Technician will act as a Subject Matter Expert in the support of the maintenance responsibilities for the company’s Baggage Handling, Passenger Boarding Bridge, Security Screening Systems and Ground Service Equipment contracts at multiple airport locations across the country. The role supports temporary outstation projects and permanent contract projects, delivering hands-on technical services, identifying corrective actions, and suggesting improvements to policy and procedure.

The position coordinates with the Director of Technical Services and Regional Managers to schedule support, helps new employees acclimate to equipment, and provides hands-on training to multiple technical roles. The technician must have an excellent understanding of maintenance and operation of BHS, PBB, ASL and GSE, including preventative maintenance, troubleshooting, deficiency inspections, reporting, PLCs, VFDs and related electrical systems.

Essential Functions

• Maintain in-depth knowledge of Baggage Handling, PBB, and GSE maintenance, with strong technical aptitude and situational leadership.
• Demonstrate advanced electrical and mechanical skills, including PLC, IO, sensors, hydraulics, drive systems, and control systems.
• Perform electrical and mechanical work such as refurbishment, upgrades, and modernization projects.
• Represent the frontline in new sites, customers, or technologies; communicate effectively with colleagues, customers, and the public.
• Lead and train operations, provide hands-on training for equipment types and local needs; document work using software platforms (CMMS).
• Coordinate with operations and safety leadership to implement and audit safety programs; ensure compliance with safety procedures.
• Maintain and improve preventative maintenance programs and relationships with operations leadership and field teams.
• Provide timely feedback to enhance individual performance and help develop the maintenance programs for contracted services.
• Be available for emergency service calls and rapid deployment to sites as needed.
• Capture knowledge and develop information packages to transfer expertise to new employees.
• Work with local site and central teams to document work, labor, and parts in the CMMS and other systems.

Position Qualifications

Basic Requirements

• Minimum 4 years’ experience in maintenance and repair of BHS, PBB, GSE, and electrical automation systems.
• Excellent time management and interpersonal skills; travel up to three weeks at a time.
• Knowledge of general workplace safety requirements; strong verbal and written communication skills.
• Job based in Carrollton, Texas; ability to work from a home office if not based in the DFW metroplex.

Preferred Qualifications

• Electrical/Mechatronics/Automation education; certificates such as Wireman, Journeyman, or Master Electrician license (or equivalent).
• OSHA 30, safety/training experience (4+ years).
• Welding, fabrication, machine shop experience; knowledge of airport support equipment (PCA, GPU, PWC).

Experience

• Solid experience in maintenance, repairs, and troubleshooting of BHS/PBB/GSE equipment and components.
• Experience with manufacturing, repairing, or maintaining industrial equipment.

Other Requirements

• English literacy required; valid driver’s license and insurability under company policy.
• Must pass a 10-year criminal history records check to obtain and maintain an Airport Security badge.
• Compliance with ELS Drug and Alcohol policy and safety programs.
