Nuneaton, UK | Full‑time | Hybrid. We offer hybrid working, with an expectation that you’ll be present at our Holland & Barrett office in Nuneaton for a minimum of two days per week.

We’re looking for an experienced Payroll Lead to join our team.

• Lead the accurate and timely delivery of monthly payrolls, ensuring compliance with UK payroll legislation.
• Provide day‑to‑day leadership, coaching and support to the Payroll team.
• Act as the technical expert and first point of escalation for complex payroll queries and system issues.
• Complete manual calculations for statutory payments, including SSP, SMP and other statutory entitlements.
• Manage workplace pension processes, including auto‑enrolment requirements.
• Carry out payroll reconciliations and audit checks to maintain accuracy and compliance.
• Build strong relationships with HR, Finance and external stakeholders, including HMRC.
• Identify opportunities to improve payroll processes, controls and the colleague experience.

• Experience leading or supervising a payroll team.
• Strong knowledge of UK payroll legislation, including PAYE, NIC, RTI, statutory payments and pensions.
• Experience working within a large or complex payroll environment.
• Excellent analytical and problem‑solving skills, with great attention to detail.
• Confidence managing sensitive or complex queries with professionalism and care.
• Experience using payroll systems and Microsoft Excel.
• A continuous improvement mindset and a passion for delivering great service.
• A CIPP qualification is desirable but not essential.
