We are seeking a caring, skilled and motivated SEN Teaching Assistant – Level 2 to join our dedicated Orchard team and help our pupils flourish.
Role OverviewAs an SEN Teaching Assistant within The Orchard, you will work under the direction of the Teacher in Charge and the SENCo to support teaching, learning, wellbeing and personal development for pupils with diverse and complex needs.
Your role will be vital in ensuring safety, engagement and meaningful progress for all pupils.
Key Responsibilities Curriculum & Learning Support- Support the planning and delivery of tailored learning experiences within The Orchard.
- Implement structured learning, play-based and sensory activities, adapting tasks to individual needs.
- Promote independence and engagement, including supporting communication, social interaction and early ICT skills.
- Work with individuals or small groups to reinforce learning, explain tasks and maintain motivation.
- Support pupils’ communication, emotional regulation and interaction using agreed strategies.
- Contribute to the delivery and review of Individual Education Plans (IEPs), behaviour plans and specialist programmes.
- Prepare and organise resources to meet the needs of pupils within The Orchard.
- Provide constructive feedback on progress, engagement and areas requiring further support.
- Liaise effectively with parents, carers and specialist professionals to ensure consistency and continuity.
- Engage in ongoing training related to SEND, therapeutic approaches and Early Years/Specialist Provision.
- Participate in appraisal and reflective practice to continually develop your skills.
- NVQ Level 2 in Supporting Teaching & Learning or equivalent experience.
- GCSE English and Maths (A–C or equivalent).
- Experience supporting pupils with SEND, including communication needs, ASD, sensory needs or cognition and learning differences.
- Strong communication, patience and relationship-building skills.
