SEND Learning Support Assistant Lead ARP

Some pupils communicate through movement, expression, and connection rather than words. This permanent role exists to give them consistency, understanding, and a calm adult presence every day.

We are an education recruitment agency, specialising in SEND Recruitment, working on behalf of a mainstream primary school with an Alternative Resourced Provision supporting pupils with Communication and Language needs. The setting is OPAL Platinum and places strong value on outdoor learning, sensory exploration, and child-led experiences. This is not a traditional classroom environment and suits adults who are flexible, energetic, and genuinely committed to SEND on a long-term basis.

This is a permanent position, created following a change in provision leadership. With the SENDCo moving into a wider non-class-based role, the ARP now needs a consistent adult to take on day-to-day leadership and provide stability for pupils and staff.

Responsibilities

* Lead the day-to-day running of the ARP

* Support and coordinate other adults in the provision

* Ensure Personal Learning Plans are followed and adapted

* Maintain and adjust daily routines to meet pupils’ needs

* Support pre-verbal pupils using consistent communication approaches

* Provide personal care where required

* Create a calm, predictable, and well-regulated environment

Requirements

* Recent experience supporting children with SEND

* Confidence working with communication and language needs

* Willingness to support personal care needs

* A proactive, adaptable approach

* Interest in learning communication strategies such as Makaton

* Commitment to a permanent role within SEND

Formal qualifications are helpful but not essential. Attitude, initiative, and emotional intelligence matter more than job titles.

What’s Offered

* Permanent role from the outset

* A stable ARP with a small, consistent team

* Ongoing SENDCo support and guidance

* A setting where consistency genuinely improves outcomes

Why Sprint?

If you’re looking to work as a Year 6 teacher in a mainstream classroom, providing day-to-day supply cover, we’re probably not the agency for you. But if you’re passionate about supporting students with additional needs and want a permanent role where you can build consistency and see the impact of your work every day, that’s exactly what we do.
