Supply Star Recruitment is recruiting on behalf of a specialist primary SEND school supporting verbal and non‑verbal autistic pupils.

About the School

The school provides a safe, structured, and nurturing environment for pupils aged 4‑11 with Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD). The school focuses on personalised learning, communication, sensory regulation, and social‑emotional development, helping pupils reach their full potential.

The Role

We are seeking Specialist Teaching Assistants to work with pupils with a wide range of communication abilities, including verbal, minimally verbal, and non‑verbal learners. You will work closely with class teachers and therapists to support learning, communication, behaviour, and daily care.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide one‑to‑one or small group support for pupils with ASD
  • Support communication using AAC systems, Makaton, PECS, or other personalised approaches
  • Assist with sensory regulation, engagement, and behaviour support
  • Support personal care, mobility, and medical needs
  • Implement structured learning activities and visual schedules
  • Collaborate with teachers, therapists, and families to meet EHCP targets
  • Record pupil progress and contribute to assessment and planning
Person Specification
  • Experience supporting children with ASD, verbal and non‑verbal
  • Strong understanding of communication strategies for non‑verbal pupils
  • Patient, empathetic, and adaptable
  • Able to work collaboratively within a multidisciplinary team
  • Committed to safeguarding and promoting pupil wellbeing

You must have a clear Enhanced DBS certificate to be considered for this role. If you do not have one Supply Star Recruitment can support you in obtaining one.
