SEND Teacher – Resource Base (Primary) – Nuneaton, Warwickshire

The school operates a dedicated SEND resource base that provides targeted, specialist support for pupils with a range of additional needs, enabling them to thrive both within the base and in mainstream classrooms.

Role Overview

We are looking for an enthusiastic, dedicated SEND (Special Educational Needs and Disabilities) Teacher to join our resource base team. The successful candidate will deliver personalised, evidence‑based provision for pupils with SEND, work closely with classroom teachers, and contribute to the overall SEND strategy of the school.

Expectations Planning & Delivery
  • Design, adapt and deliver differentiated lessons for pupils in the resource base, covering the national curriculum and pupils’ individual education plans (IEPs).
  • Co‑plan and co‑teach with mainstream teachers to support inclusion of SEND pupils in whole‑class settings.
Assessment & Monitoring
  • Conduct baseline and ongoing assessments; produce clear, timely progress reports and update IEPs in line with statutory requirements.
  • Use data to evaluate the effectiveness of interventions and adjust provision as needed.
Collaboration & Leadership
  • Work closely with the SENCo, senior leadership, teaching assistants, therapists and external agencies to coordinate support.
  • Provide advice, modelling and mentorship to classroom staff on strategies for differentiation and inclusion.
Behaviour & Safeguarding
  • Implement positive behaviour management strategies tailored to individual needs.
  • Follow safeguarding policies; report concerns promptly and maintain accurate records.
Professional Development
  • Keep up to date with current SEND legislation, best practice and emerging research.
  • Contribute to CPD sessions for staff and attend relevant training events.
Administrative Duties
  • Maintain accurate pupil records, attendance registers and resource inventories.
  • Participate in weekly SEND meetings, board of governors’ reports and parent/carer conferences.
Qualifications and Experience
  • Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) – Primary
  • Master’s degree or relevant postgraduate qualification in SEND
  • Recognised SEND qualification (e.g., PGCE (Specialist), PGCE (SEND), ATEL)
  • Experience with in a resource base or specialist setting
  • Minimum 2 years’ experience teaching pupils with SEND in a primary setting
  • Knowledge of autism spectrum disorders, ADHD, dyslexia, and moderate learning difficulties
  • Strong knowledge of the SEND Code of Practice and related legislation
  • Ability to use assistive technology and adaptive equipment
  • Excellent planning, assessment and data‑analysis skills
  • Experience of leading or delivering staff CPD
  • Effective communication skills; able to build positive relationships with pupils, parents and colleagues
  • First Aid certification (or willingness to obtain)
  • Commitment to inclusive practice and high expectations for all learners
  • Experience of working with external agencies (e.g., NHS, local authority)
  • Ability to work flexibly and manage a varied workload
