King Edward VI College Nuneaton is a high-performing sixth form college and the founding member of the Better Futures Multi-Academy Trust, which includes Bilborough Sixth Form College and Gateway Sixth Form College and is sponsored by Coventry University. The

role

We are seeking an enthusiastic, imaginative and innovative teacher to join our strong and successful Science team on a full-time maternity cover basis for the Academic Year. The post is open to any suitable applicant, including newly qualified teachers. The successful candidate will teach A level Biology using the OCR Biology A specification across both Year 1 and Year 2 classes.

It is highly desirable that the postholder can also contribute to the teaching of BTEC Level 3 Applied Science, BTEC Level 2 Applied Science or the Level 3 Diploma in Medical Science. Teachers in the faculty are expected to contribute to more than one course.

Key responsibilities
  • Deliver high-quality teaching of A level Biology to Year 1 and Year 2 students.
  • Contribute to the delivery of BTEC Applied Science or Level 3 Medical Science courses where appropriate.
  • Work collaboratively with two Biology specialists and a wider Science team of eight teaching colleagues.
  • Utilise the faculty’s six modern laboratories, including two specialist Biology laboratories, and the dedicated Biology prep room and staff work area.
Requirements
  • Enthusiastic, imaginative, innovative, creative, reflective and adaptive approach to teaching.
  • Ability to teach A level Biology is essential.
  • Experience or willingness to teach BTEC Applied Science or Level 3 Medical Science is highly desirable.
  • Commitment to working as part of a collaborative team to achieve the best outcomes for students.

  • Salary on the Sixth Form College Teacher Pay Scale NSP1 to NSP9: £33,465 to £51,714 pro-rata.
