We are currently looking for a Fire Safety Officer to take an active role in managing all aspects of fire safety for the Council’s properties. You will play a key role within this vital team working with a range of stakeholders to ensure our risk based, wholistic approach to fire safety and compliance is maintained across our portfolio.
Key responsibilities- Managing and coordinating our Fire Risk Assessment (FRA) and Fire Door Inspection programmes.
- Coordinating and ensuring progression of FRA actions.
- Liaising with the fire service to ensure positive communications and resolution of issues.
- Take an active role in remedial programmes of work relating to fire safety.
- Preparing fire safety related data for regulator and KPI reporting
- Carrying out fire safety related inspections as required and writing detailed reports.
- Ensuring NBBC’s compliance with relevant health safety regulations.
- Supporting with investigating incidents and near misses.
We are looking for people who have experience dealing with fire safety from either a practical or management perspective.
You should have good knowledge of fire risk assessments, the RRO, BSA and other relevant health and safety legislation.
You will need to be comfortable working as part of a team and using your own initiative whilst having a keen eye for attention to detail.
You will need to be confident using excel to keep track of actions and programmes of work.
This is a fast paced environment and the ability to balance competing priorities is also essential.

Required experience- Experience of undertaking health and safety related inspections
- Experience of communicating with people at various levels
- Knowledge of, and ability to interpret current health and safety legislation
- Experience of fire safety management.
- NEBOSH General certificate
- NEBOSH Fire Safety Certificate
