Are you a Registered Adult Nurse or Midwife who is passionate about reproductive healthcare?

We're looking for a Nurse or Midwife Practitioner to join the team in our Warwickshire Cluster, working 36 hours per week over Tuesday to Saturday.

This unit-based role covers Nuneaton, Coventry and Stratford. Regular travel across all units is essential.

About the role

As a Nurse or Midwife Practitioner you'll provide high quality clinical care to our clients across a range of BPAS reproductive healthcare services including termination of pregnancy, STI testing & treatment, contraception & vasectomy. You'll be involved in all stages of the client pathway from consultation through to treatment & will work in all areas of the unit including theatre & recovery.

This role will involve providing treatment & clinical information to clients both in person & over the phone.

About You

You’ll be a Registered Adult Nurse Level 1 or Midwife (practising) & an active NMC pin. You’ll have clinical practice experience of at least 12 months & have a keen interest in sexual health & reproductive healthcare. Clinical knowledge & experience of safeguarding & Fraser/Gillick competencies are key for this role.

With excellent interpersonal, communication & listening skills you’ll be adept at caring for clients in a compassionate & empathetic way. You’ll also be comfortable using IT & Microsoft Packages including Outlook & Microsoft Teams.

Main duties of the job
  • You will work in accordance with NMC guidelines for Professional Practice & the wider regulatory frameworks of the Abortion Act 1967 & Health & Social Care Act as well as BPAS clinical policies and procedures.
  • Ensure that the client understands her options in relation to the pregnancy, & if choosing termination, meets the ground of the Abortion Act.
  • Provide information on STI Testing, undertake tests and provide results and also discuss, inform & confirm the client’s future choice of contraception.
  • Carefully check for and implement any procedure indicated on client case notes, including administering medication for Medical Abortion procedures or cervical preparation.
  • Carry out post‑treatment check‑ups by assessing the physical condition of the client and discussing any concerns.
  • Complete relevant paperwork and in the event of post treatment problems, make arrangements with the clinic or refer to an NHS agency if necessary.
  • To care for and support clients undergoing surgical treatments. This could include general anaesthetic, conscious sedation or local anaesthetic.
We are also looking for:
  • Sound & accurate administrative competence with attention to detail
  • Gynecological nursing experience or relevant specialty i.e., sexual health, contraception
  • Venepuncture / cannulation skills
