Main duties of the jobAn exciting opportunity has arisen for a band 6 or experienced band 5 physiotherapist to join our inpatient stroke rehabilitation service for a 12 month period to cover maternity leave. This role is based at George Eliot Hospital Felix Holt ward where you will be working closely with the stroke MDT on the ward and linking in with the wider stroke pathway within Coventry and Warwickshire.
Our service works with stroke survivors who require additional inpatient rehabilitation following their hyper acute care before moving into community services.
Candidates should have experience of working with an MDT in an inpatient setting, experience in a range of clinical areas including stroke / neurology, a good working knowledge of the RCP and NICE stoke guidelines and awareness of SSNAP.

Job responsibilitiesRole involves ongoing physiotherapy assessment and rehabilitation of stroke survivors following completion of their hyperacute care. This will commonly include:
- Hands on physiotherapy therapy and therapeutic handling
- Leading or supporting group exercise sessions
- Prescribing of exercise programmes to complete under supervision of other staff / carers / independently
- Use of treatment adjuncts such as SAEBOMAS, mirror box, therabike, FES - previous experience of these is desirable but not essential as training can be provided
- Joint treatment sessions with other disciplines
- Therapeutic involvement in patient ADL's which may include supporting continence needs
- Goal setting using GAS format - training can be provided
- Providing advice and education to patient, family and other members of the MDT
- Family meetings and discharge planning which may occasionally include home visits
- MDT discussions
- Supervision and education of other members of the team including band 5's, assistant staff and students.
- Use of outcome measures as indicated
- Data collection for SSNAP
- Liaison with community services and completing ongoing referrals as required.

Person Specification Experience and Knowledge- Minimum 12 months to 2 years post-graduate experience
- Previous experience in specialist clinical area
- Band 5 rotational experience
- Supervisory experience
- Previous Acute NHS experience
- Diploma/Degree in Physiotherapy
- Registration with HCPC
- Evidence of CPD maintained in a portfolio including recent attendance at relevant post-graduate courses
- MCSP
- Understanding of clinical governance
- Importance in application of clinical governance in clinical area
- Highly developed physical skills including dexterity, coordination & sensory skills for assessment and manual treatment of patients
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills including an ability to provide and receive complex, sensitive and contentious information
