Senior Paint Technician

Location:

Nuneaton

Hours:

Double day shifts, 37 hours per week

Salary: £32,000 - £39,375 per annum

Job Type: Permanent

Purpose

We are looking for an experienced Senior Paint Technician to join a busy Paint Shop environment. The successful candidate will have experience preparing and painting components to a high standard, ideally within an aerospace, automotive, defence or manufacturing environment. Experience working with carbon fibre parts would be highly advantageous.

Responsibilities
  • Prepare carbon fibre parts and various substrates to a high standard.
  • Prepare surfaces and primer ready for topcoat.
  • Carry out masking and component preparation prior to painting.
  • Colour match to customer samples.
  • Select paint suitable for the application.
  • Spray primers, coloured base coats, top coats and cosmetic finishes.
  • Carry out texturing, tinting and lacquering of components.
  • Use filler to address pinholes, voids and shapes.
  • Complete quality checks on finished components.
  • Produce high-quality parts in line with customer requirements.
  • Follow work instructions and maintain quality standards.
  • Ensure hazardous and non-hazardous waste is disposed of correctly.
  • Assist with additional work, including jigs and parts set-up.
Skills and Experience
  • Previous experience within a paint shop, body shop or similar manufacturing environment.
  • Experience preparing and painting carbon fibre parts would be advantageous.
  • Strong understanding of preparation processes required to achieve a high paint standard.
  • Good hand skills and a strong eye for detail.
  • Automotive model development or body shop experience would be advantageous.
  • A recognised industry-standard paint qualification would be desirable.
  • Confident, flexible and able to adapt to changing requirements.
  • Good communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Able to work effectively under pressure and meet customer deadlines
