Main duties of the job

The post holder will work as part of a multidisciplinary primary healthcare team delivering primary healthcare nursing including elements of occupational health.

The post holder will work alongside the Band 6 Practice Nurse and Senior Medical Officer within the medical facility (MF) and will be a focal point for Primary Health Care nursing issues within area of practice.

Job responsibilities

Duties and responsibilities for the role include but are not limited to:

  • Undertake preventative health programmes e.g., travel and vaccination clinics, new patients screening, audiometry.
  • Undertake technical nursing treatments and procedures for patients with complex/specialist healthcare needs e.g., wound care, sutures removal, electrocardiogram ECGs, cytology, audiometry, ear care.
  • Be able to assess critically and re‑evaluate the clinical situation as the patient's condition or needs change.
  • Have direct responsibility for patient caseload, ensuring all patients have an accurate plan of care, which reflects the assessment undertaken and incorporate the issues and recommendations made.

Qualifications
  • Registered Nurse.
  • Professional and specialist knowledge in primary healthcare acquired through postgraduate degree/diploma or actively working towards this and can demonstrate equivalent level of competence and experience in clinical assessment and diagnosis.
  • Learning and Assessing in Practice Qualification or equivalent practice assessors training.
  • Must be in date for Basic Life Support (BLS) Anaphylaxis, Automated External Defibrillation (AED), Infection Prevention and Control (IPC), Safeguarding Level 3 (Children and Adult depending on population at risk) or willingness to undertake training.
