Warwickshire have been selected to join the Families First for Children Pathfinder Programme to design and test social care reforms which have been developed from the Government's Stable Homes, Built on Love strategy.
As part of this programme, we are developing a Multi-Agency Child Protection Team that safeguards all children from significant harm, both inside and outside the home. The Team includes Social Workers, Police Officers, Education Leads, and Safeguarding Nurses, with strong links to other partners. Together, we are committed to creating a safer environment for children in Warwickshire.
The Safeguarding Nurse will act as the Health Navigator. While being part of the new and dynamic Multi-Agency Child Protection Team, they will provide access to various health professionals, helping to identify the right professional for each child and family. They will work with the Health Safeguarding Lead to develop strategic partnerships with services across the system. A key part of their role will be to navigate complex systems and challenge the status quo when necessary to ensure all options are considered.
The role requires a strong understanding of multi-service systems, and the ability to coordinate multi-agency efforts to safeguard and/or promote the welfare of children and young people.
Although the primary base will be Nuneaton Justice Centre, the services are also covered from Leamington Justice Centre and the applicant must be willing to travel to both.
Main duties of the jobThe Multi-Agency Child Protection Team has been designed to facilitate information gathering and sharing within a fire-walled environment. You will advise and signpost professionals from a health perspective regarding concerns for children, young people and their families, assess information and provide an analysis of risk to inform the outcome decision.
Take a health lead in the coordination of Safeguarding Training, development, and other learning opportunities to ensure a wide understanding of the Multi Agency Child Protection Team initiative to encourage succession planning activity.
Work as an autonomous clinical practitioner who provides Trust wide clinical expertise on safeguarding issues, using lessons learnt in the Multi Agency Child Protection Team process to deliver face to face training to enhance colleagues understanding of the Multi Agency Child Protection Team process and Multi Agency Child Protection Team partners thresholds.
Job responsibilitiesContribute to performance improvement of the Multi-Agency Child Protection Team and Safeguarding Team taking the health lead and for identified areas, where agreed by the team.
Provide coordination of, and participate in, relevant internal and external working groups and provide advice, expertise and support where requested.
Provide co-ordination of health services in respect of any actions for health as part of Child Protection enquiries, ensuring attendance at Strategy Meetings, Initial Child Protection Conferences, and Review Child Protection Conferences.
Provide relevant and timely advice and reports on the function of the Multi-Agency Child Protection Team to the Safeguarding Team for inclusion in appropriate reports.
Participate in Multi-Agency Group Supervision.
Undertake single and multi-agency audit when required and develop action plans to support change in practice in the Multi-Agency Child Protection Team and Safeguarding Team.
Work with members of the Multi-Agency Child Protection Team and Safeguarding Team to investigate the causes of any variance in Multi-Agency Child Protection Team activity and proactively contribute to the implementation of solutions.
Proactively participate to identify risks and issues with regards to the functions of the integrated team to facilitate resolution and/or escalation processes.
Record, interpret, assess and present health information and issues that can impact on the risk or needs assessment of child/children from a range of health perspectives. This may involve disclosing relevant information on the parents or carers in ensuring the information is processed fairly and proportionately.
Participate in the Multi-Agency Child Protection Team multi-agency risk assessment to inform the case management, advising where necessary and challenging decisions when appropriate.
Advise on improvements to current safeguarding arrangements through, analysis and audit, reporting and suggesting procedures to enhance the safeguarding decision making processes across the health economy.
Ensure timely and accurate information analysis and reporting to Trust Named Professionals and Senior Management on agreed areas of work.
