Position: Family Practitioner (Domestic Abuse)

Family Practitioner – Domestic Abuse Specialist Team (DAST)

Working directly with children and families affected by domestic abuse in Nuneaton & Bedworth. The role is primarily based in Nuneaton & Bedworth, with work taking place across community settings, including family homes and partner agencies.

Responsibilities
  • Provide targeted, trauma‑informed support to families, focusing on improving safety, strengthening relationships, and promoting positive outcomes for children.
  • Work holistically with both parents and children, using evidence‑based approaches to address the impact of domestic abuse and support sustainable behavioural change.
  • Deliver specialist interventions, supporting families to understand the impact of domestic abuse, build resilience, and promote behaviour change for those who have abused.
  • Contribute to multi‑agency working, ensuring the voice of the child is central to all interventions and safeguarding remains a priority.
Qualifications & Experience
  • Minimum of 1 year experience of demonstrably effective continuous Family Support Work or as a Family Practitioner.
  • Experience of working directly with children and families in a safeguarding or domestic abuse context.
  • Strong understanding of the impact of domestic abuse on child development, parenting capacity, and family dynamics.
  • Experience of delivering one‑to‑one and/or group interventions is desirable.
  • Ability to speak and provide advice in accurate spoken English, meeting the Fluency Duty.
