Description
We are seeking a Postdoctoral Research Fellow to join our research team on an NIH-funded R01 focused on improving the implementation of evidence-based interventions in community and clinical settings. The position offers an exciting opportunity to contribute to cutting‑edge implementation research aimed at improving mental and behavioral health outcomes for perinatal populations.
The postdoctoral fellow will work closely with Dr. Elissa Faro and a multidisciplinary team of investigators and community partners to design, conduct, and analyze qualitative and mixed‑methods studies that examine implementation processes, contextual influences, and strategies to enhance equitable delivery of evidence‑based care. There will be a strong focus on qualitative data collection (e.g., interviews, focus groups, observations) and analysis and engagement with community, clinical, and research partners to support participatory and partner‑informed implementation approaches.
About the Center for Discovery and Innovation (CDI) was established by Hackensack Meridian Health (HMH) as an academic basic and translational research enterprise to rapidly translate science innovation to the clinic and to improve outcomes for patients with cancer, infectious diseases, autoimmune disease and other acute and chronic diseases. The CDI has grown rapidly since its origins in 2019, and now has 39 labs, 200+ scientists and allied personnel supported by 78 NIH and DoD grants and more than 87 other grants and contracts.
Areas of expertise include genomics, epigenetics, drug resistance, stem cell biology, drug discovery, diagnostics and biomarker development, rheumatology and pharmacology.
- Conduct research and/or laboratory tasks and experiments under direct supervision.
- Collect, analyze and interpret data.
- Create reports from analysis of initial observations and conclusions.
- Present findings to higher‑level staff.
- Present results in internal and external research forums such as scientific conferences, lab meetings and institutional seminars.
- Handle moderately complex issues and problems and refer more complex issues to higher‑level staff.
- Participate in grant and manuscript writing, as appropriate.
- Other duties and/or projects as assigned.
- Adhere to HMH Organizational competencies and standards of behavior.
Skills and Abilities
Required
- A Ph.D. degree in a scientific discipline.
- Minimum publication or in preparation of two articles as first author in a reputable peer‑reviewed scientific journal.
- Excellent written and verbal skills.
- Good problem‑solving skills.
- Ability to conduct independent research.
- Ability to work effectively in a team.
- Technical laboratory experiment techniques. Examples include but are not limited to RT‑PCR, RNA/DNA extraction/preparation, staining, sample embedding, sectioning, etc.
- Proficient computer skills including but not limited to Microsoft Office and Google Suite platforms.
Skills And Abilities
Preferred
- Experience working in a BSL‑2/BSL‑3 lab facility.
