Position Summary:
Under direct supervision of the head coach, the assistant coach provides leadership and oversees all coaching duties delegated. They assist in directing and coordinating training, planning for competition, fiscal management, and program activities for the interscholastic lacrosse program operating under NJSIAA bylaws and regulations.
Qualifications:
- Teacher certification or coaching experience.
- Knowledge of NJSIAA bylaws and regulations.
Essential Duties:
The assistant coach performs duties related to communication, delegation, and program oversight. Responsibilities include but are not limited to the following:
- Assist in promoting the general welfare of the team and help student athletes achieve team and personal goals.
- Promote the philosophies and theology of the head coach.
- Organize, prepare, and conduct individual and team practices, training, and competition.
- Direct all aspects of the lacrosse program including defense, offense, and individual positions.
- Coordinate strategic aspects of the program.
- Represent the program at school and community events, fundraisers, student activity groups, parents, and the general public.
- Manage daily operations of the program.
- Prepare daily practice regimens for player positions to be incorporated into team schedule.
- Assist in evaluating athletic and academic performance of student athletes.
- Perform miscellaneous duties as assigned.
- Comprehensive knowledge of the sport.
- Effective oral and written communication.
- Knowledge of NJSIAA guidelines and regulations.
- Ability to lead and guide high school athletes.
- Ability to read, understand, follow and enforce safety procedures.
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills with diverse constituencies.
- Ability to foster a cooperative work environment.
Evaluation of Performance:
Performance will be evaluated annually in accordance with New Jersey Administrative Code and Board of Education policy.
Computer
Skills:
Proficient in computer applications pertinent to the position.
