To help achieve our vision of a decarbonised future we are seeking a Materials Engineer to select, characterise and qualify the materials that make our fuel cell technology more compact, durable and cost-effective.
Key Responsibilities- Select, specify and qualify materials for stacks (membranes, GDLs, bipolar plates, gaskets, coatings)
- Characterise materials and analyse degradation, corrosion and durability mechanisms
- Define material specifications, acceptance criteria and incoming inspection methods
- Work with suppliers to develop and industrialise new materials
- Support root-cause analysis of material and interface failures
- Collaborate with process, test and design engineering on material trade-offs and cost reduction
- Document findings and maintain the materials database
- BSc/MSc/PhD in materials science, chemistry, chemical or mechanical engineering is mandatory
- Minimum 5-6 years of materials engineering experience, ideally in fuel cells, batteries, coatings or electrochemistry
- Experience with material characterisation techniques (SEM, XRD, mechanical/electrochemical testing)
- Experience with various lamination, decal coating or others is a plus
- Understanding of polymers, metals, coatings and their behaviour in electrochemical environments
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
- Team player able to work autonomously with internal and external experts
- Excellent spoken and written English/French is mandatory;
German is a plus
