Job Summary

The Assistant Coordinator Vacation Station assists the Program Coordinator in facilitating programming for school-age children during specified hours when students are not in school. This position helps provide a safe, educational, and fun environment that supports District academic standards and Vacation Station program goals.

Key Responsibilities

  • Assist with the maintenance and organization of program information, supplies, equipment, and records to support quality programming.
  • Assist with the evaluation, development, and implementation of lesson plans aligned with core content, instructional strategies, and program goals.
  • Assist with the supervision of students and help coordinate student needs, including medication administration, dismissal schedule changes, and current medical/allergy information.
  • Attend workshops, conferences, and additional training to obtain information and share knowledge with staff.
  • Complete and provide appropriate documentation to the Vacation Station Coordinator, including accident and incident reports, attendance records, daily schedules, discipline documentation, budgetary compliance information, and District purchases.
  • Conduct and document routine fire, tornado, earthquake, and safety drills in accordance with safety requirements and procedures.
  • Develop systems for maintaining and organizing program materials and equipment to ensure resources are available and properly maintained.
  • Implement changes to support the Vacation Station program model and maintain a safe environment.
  • Communicate daily with Building Administrators and parents regarding student needs, incidents, accidents, and other program-related information.
  • Maintain confidential student records, including attendance, medical, and incident records.
  • Model appropriate professional practices and best practices for staff.
  • Present information and professional development opportunities to staff and assist with communication and implementation.
  • Assist the Vacation Station Coordinator with overseeing the lesson-planning process and provide input and feedback for staff evaluations.
  • Train and orient new hires by reviewing documents, policies, procedures, and expectations and assisting with training and mentoring.
  • Perform other related duties as assigned.

Qualifications

Education: Community College and/or Vocational School degree with study in a job-related area. A Bachelor's degree in a related field is preferred.

Experience: Job-related experience with increasing levels of responsibility is desired.

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities

  • Knowledge of instructional procedures and practices, age-appropriate student activities, safety practices and procedures, conflict resolution, and child development/behavior.
  • Ability to perform basic mathematical calculations and read manuals and other instructional materials.
  • Ability to prepare documents, present information, and solve practical problems.
  • Ability to schedule activities, meetings, and events and gather and organize data.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to work with diverse groups.
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality and work effectively as part of a team.
  • Ability to adapt to changing priorities and work effectively with frequent interruptions.
  • Ability to operate standard office equipment and pertinent software applications.
  • Ability to prepare and maintain accurate records.
