** Apex Systems is hiring a Critical Facilities Engineer (Data Center) for a large Healthcare client.

** Three 13-hour shifts per week Shift Covered (post training period):

Thursday 7PM – Friday 8

AMFriday 7PM – Saturday 8

AM Saturday 7PM – Sunday 8AM

** Position Overview
** We are seeking a Production Control Engineer II / Data Center Technician to support critical data center operations in O'Fallon, Missouri. This individual will be responsible for the installation, maintenance, troubleshooting, and decommissioning of enterprise server and network infrastructure while ensuring system reliability and operational excellence. The role requires a hands-on professional who thrives in a fast-paced data center environment and can work independently with minimal supervision.
** Key Responsibilities
*** Perform hardware installation, upgrades, maintenance, and decommissioning of enterprise servers and infrastructure.
* Rack, stack, cable, and power data center equipment including servers, network devices, monitoring systems, and other hardware.
* Troubleshoot and repair hardware and network infrastructure issues.
* Support production control activities across systems software, hardware, applications, and data environments.
* Work with technical teams to improve system availability, scalability, performance, and operational efficiency.
* Assist with capacity planning, performance monitoring, and event-driven alerting.
* Provide second-level production support and maintain system management tools.
* Participate in disaster recovery testing and business continuity initiatives.
* Ensure production changes are thoroughly tested, documented, and implemented according to change management standards.
* Create and maintain standard operating procedures and technical documentation.
* Recommend opportunities for automation and operational improvements.
* Perform other duties as assigned while adhering to organizational policies and standards.
** Required Qualifications
*** Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Mathematics, Information Technology, or a related field; equivalent experience will be considered.
* 2-4+ years of relevant IT operations, infrastructure, or data center experience.
* Experience supporting data center infrastructure projects.
* Hands-on experience with:  + Server hardware installation and support  + Rack and stack activities  + Structured cabling (copper and fiber)  + Network hardware installation and troubleshooting  + Cooling and electrical systems concepts within a data center
* Ability to work independently and solve technical problems effectively.
* Strong communication and documentation skills.
** Preferred Qualifications
*** Experience working in a regulated healthcare environment.
* Knowledge of software development lifecycle (SDLC) and change management practices.
* Experience with disaster recovery operations and business continuity planning.
* Familiarity with infrastructure monitoring and performance management tools.
** What You'll Be Working On
** This team is responsible for maintaining and supporting a large enterprise data center environment. Current initiatives include:
* Experience with HVAC/CRAC, chillers, air handlers, UPS, switch gear, stand by generators, clean agent fire protection systems, sprinkler and fire detection systems, Building Automation System (BAS)
* Experience with structured cabling copper/fiber, testing of cables, cooling, and electrical systems concepts inside the data center
