The Construction Project Manager provides leadership, direction, and control of construction projects from concept design through completion, ensuring projects meet client expectations for quality, cost, and schedule. Ideal candidates possess a strong understanding of quality management principles, general engineering concepts, and construction techniques, along with proven experience managing teams and resources effectively.
This role is responsible for overseeing project quality, mentoring project staff, maintaining strong client relationships, and collaborating closely with internal teams across disciplines.
Significant experience with large industrial and manufacturing projects is required. Design-build experience is preferred. Candidates must be willing to travel periodically to construction sites throughout the United States.
General Responsibilities- Oversee the successful execution of construction projects, providing leadership aligned with project goals, objectives, and client expectations.
- Ensure effective coordination of project requirements and foster collaboration among multidisciplinary teams.
- Review project reporting systems and procedures; prepare progress and cost reports for clients and senior management.
- Develop and maintain strong client relationships.
- Prequalify subcontractors and develop bidder lists.
- Prepare bid packages, receive and analyze bids, and make award recommendations.
- Negotiate, award, and administer subcontracts, purchase orders, and change orders.
- Establish, monitor, and control project budgets and schedules.
- Conduct job site inspections and lead project progress meetings.
- Review and process vendor submittals; expedite material and equipment deliveries as needed.
- Prepare regular project status reports for client coordination.
- Assemble, review, and transmit project closeout documentation, including as-builts and warranties, and provide warranty follow-up.
- Develop site utilization plans and determine appropriate crew sizes.
- Monitor trade contractor performance to ensure schedules are maintained.
- Develop, update, and regularly review project schedules, including three-week look-aheads, daily reports, and safety documentation.
- Provide proactive leadership in establishing and maintaining a strong safety culture on project sites.
- Coordinate effectively between design teams and field construction operations.
- Prepare required field documentation and reports on a daily, weekly, and monthly basis.
- Bachelor’s degree in Construction Management, Engineering, or Architecture.
- 7–10 years of successful construction project management experience on diverse projects.
- Strong knowledge of construction engineering principles, including materials, methods, sequencing, scheduling, and estimating.
- Thorough understanding of construction industry practices, contracts, laws, and accounting.
- Working knowledge of insurance, liability, and claims avoidance.
- Ability to interpret construction drawings and specifications.
- Strong understanding of field construction systems, safety practices, and procedures.
- Working knowledge of Procore and Microsoft Project.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook.
- Excellent interpersonal, leadership, and communication skills.
- Willingness to travel approximately 10%.
