Geosyntec has an exciting opportunity for an Experienced Geotechnical/Geostructural Engineer to join our geostructural and geotechnical practice in our Acton, MA, Chicago or Oak Brook, IL office. The opportunity to work a hybrid work schedule may be available at the discretion of the Company. Essential Duties and Responsibilities
  • Geotechnical and geostructural engineering design analyses such as deep and shallow foundations, earth retaining structures, ground modification, slope stability, settlement, seismic, and seepage.
  • Geotechnical site characterization.
  • Development and management of instrumentation monitoring systems and construction data.
  • Project/task management and proposal preparation support.
  • Preparation of engineering reports, design calculations, drawings, technical specifications, and permit applications; and
  • Fieldwork associated with design and construction services.
  • Drive personal, company, and rental vehicles to client or company project or office sites, and other business locations, as needed.
Education and Licensure
  • Bachelor's degree in civil engineering or a related field. (required)
  • Advanced degree in geotechnical engineering or a related field. (preferred)
  • Professional registration (i.e., P.E.) (required) or ability to obtain within 6 months of hire.
Skills, Experience and Qualifications
  • At least 7 years (8+ preferred) directly relevant experience in a consulting or other design role environment; or equivalent combination of education and experience. (required)
  • Knowledge of relevant geotechnical engineering software (e.g., slope stability). (required)
  • Knowledge of numerical modeling tools. (preferred)
  • Ability to succeed in a fast‑paced consulting environment, handling multiple project assignments, meeting strict deadlines, and traveling to client facilities as needed. (required)
  • Excellent writing and communication skills. (required)
  • Field work and overnight travel may be required.
  • Current OSHA 30‑hr training and refreshers. (preferred)
  • Health & Safety training, medical monitoring, and client‑driven drug and background testing may be required.
  • Valid U.S. driver's license and a satisfactory driving record for business travel. (required)

This opportunity will be posted for at least five days. Below are the potential compensation ranges that we in good faith believe are applicable for this role at the time of this posting and are only applicable for jobs to be performed in the specified location(s) below. The typical base salary range for this position is just one component of Geosyntec's total compensation package for employees.

Actual compensation will be determined based on education, experience, skill set and location.

  • Minimum Salary: $102,055/year / Maximum Salary: $164,320/year (St. Louis, MO)
  • Minimum Salary: $107,160/year / Maximum Salary: $172,530/year (Chicago, Oak Brook, IL)
