JOB DESCRIPTION

The Assurance Senior, Technology Risk Assurance is responsible for assisting in the planning of the IT audit engagement and executing the IT risk assessment and control evaluation to determine impact of controls on financial audit procedures. In this role, the Assurance Senior will be charged with designing and executing procedures to understand and test the client IT environment and related IT general controls (ITGCs) including, but not limited to, IT system logical access, change management, and IT operational controls, as well as testing business process controls, key reports, and information produced by entity (IPE) for various client industry environments.

Additionally, the Assurance Senior will provide training, mentoring, and technical guidance to IS Assurance Associates.

Job Duties
  • Apply knowledge of IT risks and controls to understand and document client environments and the impact that IT has on audit risks.
  • Identify and test controls to mitigate risks and assess the overall financial reporting control environment.
  • Document results, deficiencies, and the impact on financial reporting.
  • Communicate findings to clients to improve processes and strengthen controls.
  • Develop and maintain relationships with client personnel and management.
  • Establish deadlines, execute procedures, and oversee to meet set deadlines.
  • Coach associate team members and provide on‑the‑job learning.
Professional Competence
  • Apply auditing theory, professional skepticism, and BDO audit manuals.
  • Apply auditing standards and methodology to various client situations.
  • Identify complex issues and collaborate with team and client to resolve them.
  • Provide counsel on test design and execution.
  • Prepare and communicate results to the client.
Other
  • Plan and execute IT audits, including understanding IT environment, risk and controls.
  • Build knowledge base through reading methodology, standards, and regulations.
  • Apply BDO methodology, industry standards, guidance, and new pronouncements.
Education
  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Computer Science, or Information Systems, required.
  • Master’s degree in Information Systems or relevant advanced degree, preferred.
Experience
  • More than 2 years of IT audit and/or related risk and controls experience, required.
  • More than 1 year of supervisory experience, required.
  • Public accounting experience, highly desired.
  • Proficient with PCAOB and AICPA audit standards, required.
  • Experience performing audit tests for public companies, preferred.
  • Experience reviewing and testing around third‑party attestation (SOC) reports, preferred.
License / Certifications
  • CPA, CISA, CISM, CRISC, CGEIT, CISSP, and/or CFE certification, strongly preferred.
Software
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite, required.
  • Experience with industry ERP applications, highly preferred.

  • Solid organizational skills; ability to meet project deadlines with focus on details.

  • Travel up to 30%.
Salary

California Range: $85,000 – $125,000
Illinois Range: $78,000 – $87,000
NYC/Long Island/Westchester Range: $80,000 – $115,000
