Commercial Insurance Placement Specialist

As a Commercial Insurance Placement Specialist, you will independently manage marketing and placement of new small business accounts with partner insurance carriers. You will support select commercial producers by negotiating carrier coverages, preparing proposals, and finalizing binding.
Responsibilities- Establish and maintain relationships with the production team and carrier partners.
- Serve as a source of knowledge on market trends, pricing practices, and underwriting policies.
- Participate in carrier meetings and share information with operations and sales.
- Negotiate and sell opportunities to carrier partners, quote online via rating tools or submit to underwriter, collaborating with team lead when necessary.
- Document marketing summaries outlining terms, rates, commission, bind order documents, and carrier responses.
- Bind coverage with underwriters and finalize the marketing process.
- Maintain accurate documentation in agency management systems and marketing files for each account managed.
- Perform essential functions while meeting service standards and best practices developed by USI.
- Take on additional projects and duties as assigned.
- 3–7 years’ experience in Commercial Property & Casualty with comprehensive understanding of all coverage, placement, underwriting, and rating concepts.
- State Property & Casualty Insurance license.
- Proficient in Word and Excel; strong written, oral, and interpersonal communication skills.
- Strong business acumen, sales‑driven, solution‑oriented, and ability to negotiate creatively.
- Ability to work independently in a fast‑paced environment with minimal instruction.
- Knowledge of agency management systems, workflow procedures, underwriting, sales, and service processes.
- Ability to set priorities and manage workflow to ensure accurate, timely work.
- Informed about industry and new product information, legislation, coverages, and technology.
