Description:

Buyer/Planner reviews material requirements to meet production plans, actual sales and fore casted sales plans. Develops inventory plans and procures the materials, parts, and components at the most cost effective pricing while meeting delivery expectations. The Buyer/Planner is responsible for the balance between inventory turns and service level of his/her items.

Responsibilities

Buyer/Planner
Analyze daily requirements to determine materials needs and execute purchase orders to satisfy demand schedules.
Maintain accurate delivery information on open purchase orders through supplier acknowledgements.
Expedite material delivery where necessary for production and service.
Continually review stocking levels for each item to provide targeted service levels.
Communicate with Suppliers to best support the inventory plan and provide timely delivery for production needs.
Regularly update backlog status reports and communicate with Customer Service expected delivery for customer orders.
Review and recommend disposition of all excess and obsolete inventory.
Perform root cause analysis of service outliers to identify and implement improvements in overall process.

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities

Education
Requires a Bachelors Degree in a related field

Experience
5 years Buyer/Planner experience in a manufacturing environment.
Previous experience with MRP material related system.
Familiarity with Nordco equipment a plus.

Technical Skills
Proficient in the use of computer applications Microsoft Word, Excel and Access
Ability to read blueprints, good mathematical aptitude and knowledge of quality assurance philosophies, practices and techniques.
Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
Ability to interact and clearly communicate with other functional areas of the organization, management and suppliers.
Understanding of LEAN techniques including material pull systems.
