Behavior Technician – Wisconsin Early Autism Project

With one in 36 children diagnosed with autism, this entry‑level position is in high demand. As a Behavior Technician at WEAP, you’ll help children with autism learn, grow, and build communication, socialization, and self‑help skills through play‑based therapy known as applied behavior analysis (ABA).

Responsibilities- A genuine desire to help children with autism and their families reach their goals.
- A steady supply of compassion, empathy, enthusiasm, kindness, goodwill, and reliability.
- A willingness to learn about autism, learning differences, and ABA.
- Working with children aged 18 months to 6 years with autism in their homes or at one of our centers.
- Adhering to ABA protocols, collecting data, and assisting in the implementation of behavior intervention plans.
- High School Diploma or Equivalent.
- Reliable transportation;
Valid Driver’s License and personal vehicle preferred. - Availability for part‑time or full‑time schedule (8 am‑8 pm CST, Monday‑Friday, possibly weekends).
- Minimum age 18 on the first day of employment.
- Eligibility to work in the United States.
- Availability to work a consistent weekly schedule in mornings, afternoons, and/or evenings.
- Ability to pass a background check.
- Preferred: bi‑lingual (English/Spanish), study or experience in psychology, education, special education, childcare, behavioral health, or related fields; prior childcare experience such as babysitting, nanny, tutor, teacher, coach, or camp counselor.
- Starting pay at $17 hr, with potential to increase based on ABA experience.
- Full‑time employees earn up to 15 days of paid time off (PTO) after 90 days of employment.
- Part‑time employees are eligible for sick leave.

Physical requirements vary by client assignment. You may be asked to push, pull, and lift up to 35 pounds and need to sit on the floor, stoop, stand, walk, or run quickly as needed.
