Environmental Technician – Tessera

Position Type:
Non‑Exempt – Full‑time day shift.

Hourly Compensation: $41.22 per hour.

Responsibilities
  • Perform environmental sampling, field testing, and document all findings (Operating Records, Logs, Reports) for Wastewater, Storm Water, Used Oil/Mixed Fuel, Hazardous Materials, and more.
  • Collect, manage, and prepare waste containers per hazardous waste regulations and DOT guidelines.
  • Transport hazardous waste to central accumulation facilities, conduct bulk/cons consolidation.
  • Document and log hazardous waste collection and processing per established systems.
  • Secure and move heavy drums and containers using dollies and pallet jacks; inspect labeling and environmental requirements.
  • Perform industrial service operations: tank cleaning, waste bulking, pressure washing, hazmat cleaning, pump truck operations, demolition service per company policies.
  • Conduct need‑based and emergency response activities for chemicals, fuels, haz. waste, solid waste, water, and septage, including on‑site response within 1 hour and maintain HAZWOPER credentials.
  • Determine and don required PPE for spill response tasks.
  • Participate in Facility Response Team training; maintain FRT credentials.
  • Perform on‑call duty rotations (24‑hr + weekends) and respond to off‑duty tasks.
  • Clean tanks, sumps, perform pump‑outs; work in confined spaces and hazardous atmospheres.
  • Engage in asbestos, lead, and mold abatement; assist with USTs and other environmental projects.
  • Clean grease traps, septic tanks, oil‑water separators to specification.
  • Serve on Tessera snow team; operate plows and perform snow removal.
  • Assist in developing, implementing, and monitoring environmental programs for Navy contracts.
  • Ensure compliance while producing quality service; apply SOPs and best management practices.
  • Guide junior technicians.
  • Investigate errors; develop corrective actions.
  • Follow all applicable federal, state, and local laws;
    Navy instructions and permits.
  • Communicate professionally with clients; maintain knowledge of EMS and EPP SOPs.
  • Participate in training and maintain required credentials.
  • Communicate with environmental team to ensure accurate completion of work orders.
Qualifications
  • Minimum 3 years environmental experience.
  • Completed Defense Hazardous Materials/Waste Handling Course (HAZWOPR) or equivalent.
  • First Aid/CPR certification preferred.
  • Must obtain/hold CDL Class B with hazmat and tanker endorsements within first four months.
Physical Requirements
  • Lift or move up to 70 pounds.
  • Reach, kneel, walk, stand, and perform repetitive motions for several hours.
  • May climb in/out of vehicles and stairs; stand or sit for long periods.
  • Work under pressure for extended periods.
Other Requirements
  • Valid state driver’s license with ability to obtain insurance coverage from Tessera.
  • REAL‑ license, U.S. passport, or military  access federal military installation.
  • Must obtain and maintain applicable security clearances and installation access; background check and E‑Verify required.
