Position OverviewApplebee’s® Assistant Manager will lead daily operations, ensuring guests and staff are passionate about their experience. The role requires strong leadership, problem solving, stress management, and the ability to excel in a fast‑moving environment.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities- Deliver timely, friendly service and achieve unit objectives.
- Cultivate a culture aligned with Flynn Applebee’s core values.
- Respond immediately to verbal guest complaints.
- Prioritize guest contact and complete table visit requirements.
- Maintain departmental inventory levels.
- Prepare products that meet company standards through line checks.
- Effectively schedule employees to meet sales demands.
- Maintain safety and security programs.
- Promote cleanliness, sanitation, organization, and maintenance of the restaurant.
- Report necessary repairs to the General Manager/Area Director.
- Recruit and refer potential team members and management candidates.
- Promote Flynn | Applebee’s training procedures for new managers.
- Use employment orientation and training systems to maintain a trained staff.
- Participate in employee development through One‑On‑One and performance documentation.
- Asses employee efficiency and provide regular feedback.
- Monitor employee performance and document situations that require disciplinary action.
- Ensure compliance with company policies and procedures.
- Control costs in the assigned department and comply with local, state, and federal laws.
- Drive bi‑weekly and weekly food and liquor inventories.
- Prepare accurate daily paperwork and assure sanitation standards meet health department requirements.
- Provide a role model for managers and employees and develop expertise on all store‑related technology.
- Must be willing to work in all positions and assist as needed, including cooking, expo, seating, bartending, and more.
- Use the Management Development Program for continuous growth of leadership skills and proficiencies.
- At least 2‑3 years restaurant management experience.
- Serve Safe Food and Serve Safe Alcohol certifications are a plus.
Assistant Managers earn $17.48 to $25 per hour (approximately $50,000 to $71,500 annually based on a 50‑hour work week), with potential for monthly bonus where applicable by location. Benefits include competitive wages, profit sharing/bonus, medical/dental/vision, HSA, short/long‑term disability, life, hospital indemnity, critical illness, AD&D, legal, 401k with match, paid vacation, and paid sick leave. Managers with 6 months of continuous employment receive 5 days of PTO until their first anniversary.
Employees earn additional vacation time ranging from 40 to 200 hours per year based on years worked. Part‑time managers receive a prorated PTO amount based on percentage of time employed compared to a full‑time manager. This position is also eligible for profit share bonuses.
- Work various shifts, including weekends.
- Stand and exert well‑paced mobility for up to ten (10) hours.
- Safely lift items up to 50 pounds.
- Read, write, and use small tools and equipment for communication.
