Benefits of Working for OHSBetty

C. Moore Grants

At Oak Hill School, we understand the importance of work‑life balance and respect your family and personal time. Employees who have worked at Oak Hill for at least two years are eligible to apply for a Betty

C. Moore grant. Mrs. Moore was a lifelong educator who worked at Oak Hill from 1973‑1994, first as a teacher and eventually, as the head of school. Long after her time at Oak Hill drew to a close, her legacy continues to enrich members of our faculty and staff through two grants awarded annually for travel, rest, and rejuvenation given in her memory.

“In the summer of 2017 my nephews were a rising senior in high school and a rising sixth grader. This seemed like the perfect time to introduce the boys to travel. The Betty

C. Moore trip was an educational trip that gave us lifelong memories of our time together in D.C.”

Brenda Boon, Director of PreK

“Our Betty

C. Moore grant trip to the Pacific Northwest was amazing – the sites, hikes, and beauty of the land went beyond any pictures we took. Most of all, the rejuvenation and memories we came home with could not be topped.”

Bitsy Ward, Fourth Grade Teacher

“Our trip to England was very much a spiritual renewal, while also very majestic to see such historical sites. It was also a reminder that there is so much to this world beyond what we see that we take for granted each day.”

Jerry Monds, Music Teacher

“My parents and I traveled to Ireland the summer after my younger brother unexpectedly passed away over Thanksgiving break. It was a blessing, not only because we could spend so much time together as a family, but it gave us something to look forward to during one of the most difficult years of our lives.”

We were able to visit mountains, a rainforest, and a powerful ocean. This grant made me feel supported and appreciated by the community, which was a wonderful feeling.

Maureen Milam, Learning Services

I got to stand in front of paintings that I have taught to students for close to 20 years. I felt so much appreciation for working for Oak Hill while I was thousands of miles away.

Laura Sturgill, Art Teacher

Going to Yellowstone felt like an amazing opportunity to be in God's creation. Anytime I can be out in nature, there's a reset button I feel like I can hit. Getting to travel with the grant was an incredibly generous gift.

I am so grateful…
