About the roleThe Automation Technician is responsible for maintaining a high technical aptitude of automated systems hardware and software, provides on-shift automation support working in conjunction with operations and other maintenance employees, assists in troubleshooting systems, coordinating project work, and maintaining equipment functionality. Additionally, this role plays a key part in our reliability of equipment to ensure production operates safely, in compliance with quality requirements and with limited downtime.
This position works 12-hour shifts from 7:00pm - 7:00am.
- Monitor and maintain updated all machinery automation systems.
- Execute automation and electrical preventative maintenance, inspection, and corrective actions on machinery operations.
- Troubleshooting on automated system problems and make necessary repairs.
- Update and troubleshooting on recipes system.
- Perform equipment breakdown analysis related with electrical and automation issues, implementing solutions to increase reliability of equipment.
- Recommend improvements and modifications to production machines.
- Documenting completed work and the conditions found and analysis, utilizing Computerized Maintenance Management System (CMMS).
- Interacting regularly with peers and management to pursue continuous improvement of machinery operations.
- Work within an operations driven team environment to resolve issues and improve performance.
- Execute maintenance troubleshooting and equipment improvements by reading and comprehending automation program, electrical schematics, blueprints, and/or operation manuals.
- Capable of knowledge sharing in terms of equipment maintenance good practices through work instruction review, one point lesson development and perform automation training for maintenance and operations team.
- Follow safety procedures, recommended practices, LOTO, job safety analysis (JSA), safe work permits and comply with plant safety programs at all times.
- Execute the maintenance routines following the Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP) and quality compliance.
Basic Qualifications:
- High School graduate or equivalent.
- Certification from a trade school in Electrical, Computer Operations, or Automation, or a degree in a maintenance-related field. Alternatively, relevant military experience or at least two years of hands-on experience in electrical maintenance, particularly with PLCs, VFDs, and other automated systems.
- Preferred Experience of 2 to 5 years of recent and consistent experience in maintaining advanced electrical systems and/or automation systems.
- Experience working with Rockwell, Siemens, Schneider PLCs, VFDs, and other industrial automation equipment is highly beneficial.
- Familiarity with computer architecture and its integration into electrical systems is highly desirable.
- Have a working knowledge of troubleshooting of PLCs, HMIs, robots, AC motor drives, servo drives, vision system, sensors, industrial printer systems and electronic components.
- Knowledge of PLC ladder logic, Scada system and historian software.
- Ability to perform Automation Network troubleshooting with TC/IP and Profibus.
- Knowledge in using hand tools, electrical meter, and testing equipment
