Position:
Literacy Coach/Intervention Provider (Grades 4-9)
- This is a grant-funded position for FY 2025-26 (one-year grant term with opportunity for year 2 and 3 funding pending student results of program, as determined by Michigan Department of Education).
- This position is a non-affiliated non-administrator salaried position.
This is a 35n Reading Excellence and Advancing District (READ) Innovation Grant-Competitive funding through the Michigan Department of Education. This position will be responsible for implementing the district’s READ Innovation Grant (Section 35n). This position focuses on expanding Oakridge’s successful K–3 literacy model into grades 4–9 through evidence-based intervention and coaching aligned with the science of reading.
Qualifications
Required:
Bachelor’s degree in education, reading, or related field.A Michigan teaching certificate endorsement of BX, BA, BQ, , or BT.Strong knowledge of structured literacy and the science of reading.Experience with Tier II and Tier III intervention and progress monitoring tools (e.g., STAR, Acadience, Core Phonics).Demonstrated skill in small-group reading instruction and coaching teachers in evidence-based practices.Ability to analyze assessment data and differentiate instruction accordingly.Leadership skills that influence positive development of instructional practices among classroom teachers.Preferred:
Master’s degree in reading, literacy, or curriculum and instruction.LETRS training.Experience teaching or coaching grades 4–9.Familiarity with EL Education curriculum, REWARDS, UFLI, or Wilson Reading System.Knowledge of MTSS frameworks and data-based decision-making.Essential Requirements (Include, but are not limited to) Instructional Support and Interventions:
Deliver small-group and class-based instruction using the REWARDS program.Co-teach and model evidence-based reading practices aligned with the science of reading.Implement Tier II and Tier III interventions.Collaborate with general education teachers.Use data from screening and diagnostic tools to plan, deliver, and adjust instruction.Support the use of supplemental materials.Coaching and
Professional Development:
Provide job-embedded coaching cycles to tier 1 classroom teachers.Conduct classroom modeling, co-planning, and reflective feedback sessions to improve instructional fidelity.Facilitate professional learning communities (PLCs) and coaching meetings.Deliver training sessions on the REWARDS curriculum, science of reading, and effective Tier II intervention practices.Support teachers in interpreting and responding to progress monitoring data.Implementation Fidelity and Data Monitoring Collaboration and Communication Program and
