Bechtel National, Inc. (BNI), Bechtel’s government services business, is one of the top providers to departments and agencies of the U.S. and British governments. Its successes include many large, first-of-a-kind projects in government site management, environmental restoration, defense, space, energy, and national and homeland security. This position will provide support to the Uranium Processing Facility (UPF) located at the Y-12 National Security Complex in Oak Ridge, Tennessee.
UPF will be a multi-year, multi-billion-dollar project and will be a first-of-its-kind complex for enriched uranium operations in support of Y-12 missions. UPF is one of the Department of Energy’s largest investments in Tennessee since the Manhattan Project and one of the National Nuclear Security Administration’s largest construction projects. When complete, UPF will: replace a 70-year-old facility with modern buildings, reduce operational costs and energy consumption, improve worker safety, and provide enriched uranium capabilities well into the future.
The UPF Construction project works on various schedules with differing start times, and may require employees to work overtime, weekends, and/or night shift when a business need arises.
Eligibility for this position requires US citizenship; successful candidate must provide proof of US citizenship to obtain badge access to the site. Candidate must complete security questionnaire and successfully clear site access requirements check. All employees are subject and agree to random drug and alcohol testing as a condition of employment. Must be able to obtain a security clearance, as applicable.
Job Summary:In this role, you will provide project field engineering support with work planning and packaging, material management, quantity verification and validation, safety and quality control, technical inspection and testing knowledge, and coordination of system turnover. Your work will contribute to ensuring field engineering activities operate safely, are complete, and conform to quality standards and project requirements. #LI-CL1
Major Responsibilities:Work Planning & Packaging
- Prepares construction drawings and sketches.
- Interfaces in planning construction methods and procedures.
Material Management
- Initiates requisitions for field purchases
- Prepares quantity takeoffs of field purchased material and equipment.
Quantities
- Verifies commodities on quantity tracking systems or other computer database systems as required.
Safety / Quality Control
- Ensures zero accident philosophy and requirements are implemented and adhered to by craft and others when in the operational area, and tools and equipment are in safe condition and operated safely.
Technical
- Proactively considers continuous learning or show interest to pursue appropriate learning activities
For Direct Hire:
- Develops firm understanding of system and area scoping and drawings required for package development.
- Reviews and approves inspection test plans
- Coordinates reviews of subcontractor submittals
- Requires bachelor's degree (or international equivalent) and 2-5 years of relevant experience or 6-9 years of relevant work experience
Skills:
- Develops firm understanding of startup turnover systems and drawings / records required for SVM / VMA closure.
- Acts as the single point of contact for Construction for System Verification.
- Coordinates with Construction, Startup, Completions and Design Engineering to complete verification write-ups and ensure all system components are accounted for.
- Prepares verification discussions for each startup turnover system and inputs to SVM / VMA database.
- Tracks closure of Construction items that are incomplete but required for verification completion.
- Reports daily progress on verification completions to supervision.
