Bechtel National, Inc. (BNI) is one of the top providers to U.S. and British governments. This position supports the Uranium Processing Facility (UPF) at the Y-12 National Security Complex in Oak Ridge, Tennessee. UPF is a multi‑year, multi‑billion‑dollar, first‑of‑its‑kind complex for enriched uranium operations. The standard work week is Monday–Thursday, 7:00 am to 5:30 pm, and the schedule follows a 4/10 pattern. Candidates must be U.S. citizens and obtain a security clearance.
Job SummaryIn this role, you will conduct field investigations and client interviews to determine work scope and cost estimates for control systems aspects. You will lead the design, development, modification, and evaluation of control systems components and processes, resolving technical issues to meet project requirements.
Major Responsibilities- Evaluate, select, and apply standard control systems engineering methods, techniques, procedures, and criteria, using independent judgement to make adaptations.
- Participate in the design, development, and modification of control systems deliverables and processes utilizing relevant Engineering Department Procedures (EDPs), design standards and guides, and Bechtel Standard Application Programs (BSAPs).
- Coordinate work and collaborate with other engineering disciplines, specialty groups, and functional groups, including construction and startup, suppliers, contractors, and the client.
- Prepare conceptual studies, designs, reports, or proposals.
- Provide technical assistance to other control systems personnel.
- Interact with regulatory agency personnel to resolve complex regulatory issues and industry codes and standards.
- Assist project and construction management in identifying and complying with project control systems requirements and addressing issues during project execution.
Requires a bachelor’s degree and 5–8 years of relevant experience or 9–12 years of relevant work experience in lieu of a degree.
Required Knowledge and Skills- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Proficiency with Microsoft 365 (Word, Excel, Visio, PowerPoint, Power BI, etc.).
- Knowledgeable of control system engineering work processes, procedures, and specifications.
- Extensive experience with operations technology equipment and component configuration, integration, and testing.
