Omega Technical Services is seeking a highly motivated Senior Nuclear Engineer to support ongoing operations in Oak Ridge, TN. This position plays a vital role in advancing critical mission objectives within a highly regulated and technically demanding environment. As a trusted partner to government agencies and national laboratories, Omega supports some of the nation’s most complex and high-impact programs, contributing directly to the strength, security, and sustainability of the U.S. Nuclear Security Enterprise.
Responsibilities- Lead and perform nuclear and radiological analyses supporting safety basis documentation for DOE nuclear facilities.
- Develop, review, and approve Documented Safety Analyses (DSAs), hazard analyses, accident analyses, and supporting technical evaluations in accordance with DOE Standard 3009‑2014.
- Provide technical oversight and guidance on nuclear safety methodologies, assumptions, and modeling approaches.
- Interface with project management, operations, engineering disciplines, and regulatory stakeholders, including U.S. Department of Energy representatives.
- Support safety basis change packages, Unreviewed Safety Question (USQ) evaluations, and regulatory reviews.
- Review subcontractor and vendor nuclear safety deliverables for technical adequacy and compliance.
- Mentor and provide technical direction to Nuclear Engineers and other junior staff.
- Support audits, readiness assessments, and independent reviews related to nuclear safety.
Bachelor of Science degree in Nuclear Engineering from an ABET‑accredited engineering program.
Qualifications- Candidate must be a U.S. Citizen.
- Satisfactory results of a pre‑employment screening, which includes a drug and breath alcohol test, along with a Motor Vehicle Record check.
- Candidate must be able to obtain and maintain a DOE Security Clearance.
- Minimum of 15 years of experience performing nuclear analysis or preparing safety documentation for nuclear facilities.
- Demonstrated expertise in nuclear and radiological analysis and/or documented safety analysis preparation in accordance with DOE Standard 3009‑2014.
- Strong knowledge of DOE nuclear safety basis processes and requirements.
- Proven ability to lead technical efforts and provide expert judgment on complex nuclear safety issues.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Possession of an active DOE/DoD clearance within the past two (2) years is preferred.
- Previous DOE/NNSA work experience.
- Prior experience serving as a technical reviewer or safety basis authority.
- Advanced degree in Nuclear Engineering or related discipline.
Shift will be dependent upon customer site discretion.
