Job SummarySMSI, LLC is seeking an Instrumentation and Controls Engineer (I&C) for work on a large capital line-item project supporting NNSA. The work would be performed from Oak Ridge, TN. The I&C Engineer supports the systems acceptance testing for the Instrumentation and Controls engineering discipline. The I&C Engineer will utilize the systems engineering process providing a foundational knowledge of functional and operational requirements, design criteria, and identification and implementation of applicable codes and standards.
The I&C Engineer will support systems testing, systems acceptance, systems verification and operational readiness.
- Prepares systems test plans and procedures.
- Supports systems acceptance testing.
- Reviews systems allocation and verification packages for requirement traceability.
- Reviews and validates modification design change packages.
- Performs field walkdowns supporting I&C start-up engineering.
- Prepares systems for operational readiness reviews and closeout.
- Reviews and validates vendor data against systems verification and acceptance plans.
- Assists systems engineers in developing and maintaining technical baseline documents at project closeout.
- Independently applies extensive and diversified knowledge of principles and practices in broad areas of assignments and related fields.
- Works on a major project or several projects of moderate scope with complex features.
- Receives supervision and guidance relating to overall objectives, critical issues, new concepts, and policy matters.
- B.S. degree in Engineering from ABET accredited program with 5-10 years of related instrumentation and controls design engineering experience.
- Working design experience in nuclear industry/facility is preferred with NQA-1 experience and IEEE, NEC codes and ISA standards.
- Experience with PLC and HMI programming preferred but not required.
- Candidate must be a US Citizen.
- Candidate must be able to work onsite fulltime during regular business hours Monday-Friday.
- Active DOE Q clearance preferred but not required.
- A bachelor’s degree in engineering or related discipline from an ABET-accredited college or university.
