Responsibilities

Provide support to the group that is responsible for developing methods to process and disposition all waste streams generated by the client's facility. The Process Engineer will direct the work of individual contributors on the team, as well as assist with the resources and organizational needs of the waste and recovery team. Additionally, this role will assist with the support design, licensing, construction and operation of the client's facility.

  • Collaborate with commercial nondestructive assay (NDA) equipment vendors to design, acquire, and deploy NDA systems that support the processing of waste streams potentially containing low-enriched uranium.
  • Provide support for facility design activities and related licensing efforts.
  • Assist in managing engineering resource allocation across various projects to ensure qualified personnel are assigned to appropriate tasks.
  • Support design cycle sprints, offering guidance that aligns engineering teams, external partners, and suppliers toward the delivery of high-quality work products on schedule and within budget established by project leadership.
  • Work collaboratively with a multidisciplinary engineering team on the development of advanced nuclear reactor technologies.
  • Execute tasks in accordance with design control processes, ensuring complete documentation, participation in internal and external design reviews, and proper management of configuration data.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned by management.
Requirements
  • Bachelor's degree in chemical engineering or related discipline with 5+ years of experience OR a master's degree in chemical engineering or related field with 3+ years of experience.
  • Willing to work with hazardous materials such as low enriched uranium, nitric acid, and phenolic resin.
  • Strong Chemistry background to understand concentrations and chemical hazards present in waste streams.
  • Knowledge of and experience with manufacturing facility design and approaches to lean manufacturing.
  • Experience in design of chemical processing equipment or related systems.
  • Successful drug screening.
Location/Work Arrangement
  • This position is a fully onsite position in Oak Ridge, TN.
  • Full time, Monday - Friday, 40-hour work week.
