Akima Infrastructure Services, LLC (AIS) is actively seeking engineering, professional, technical, and administrative support personnel for the Department of Energy at the Y‑12 National Security Complex in Oak Ridge, Tennessee, and the Pantex Plant in Amarillo, Texas. Successful candidates will be employees of AIS and will receive day‑to‑day direction from Y‑12 staff.
Eligible candidates must be U.S. citizens, at least 18 years old, and able to meet pre‑employment requirements including physicals, drug screening, and background investigations for DOE clearance.
Responsibilities- Provide full‑time piping design engineering support for facility and production area activities in Category 2 and Category 3 facilities.
- Develop design output documentation for minor facility modifications, such as drawings, engineering instructions, data sheets, equipment specifications, equivalency evaluations, and calculations.
- Ensure designs meet ASME B31.3 and ASME B31.1 standards.
- Collaborate with other engineering disciplines and plant organizations to deliver timely design output.
- Use experience from NRC or DOE regulated environments (desired).
- Understand Conduct of Engineering, Conduct of Operations, and Conduct of Maintenance for facilities operating within a nuclear regulated environment.
- Maintain strong verbal and written communication skills and interface effectively with various clients, production and support organizations, management, and hourly wage employees.
- Be willing to perform field walk‑downs and work in a production environment.
- ABET accredited BS degree in a relevant engineering discipline and 20 or more years of relevant professional experience.
- Q clearance or ability to obtain one is required.
- Pre‑employment drug screen – external applicants must successfully complete a post‑offer, pre‑employment drug test.
- Medical examinations may be required as job‑related pre‑placement requirements.
